The idea of Shooting The X was born in a snow-covered corn field in late 2008. Unable to order snow blinds or snow spray, we were stuck with homemade inventions because we were determined to hunt geese. In addition, the big box stores were sold out of shells and blinds and didn't care to re-stock for the late season or snow goose season because the waterfowler wasn't high on their priority list and they had already made their money.
We started joking that ordinary hunters could stock a store better than the major chains. Hunters could talk about the products better and be a source of help, not a roadblock as some store's clerks often are. We also talked about the fact that great customer service, timely shipments, and low shipping rates would be a refreshing change. Above all else, products could be sold at a lower price than the competitors because the business wouldn't be driven by greed.
Shooting The X was built by hunters for hunters and opened in May 2009. Our philosophy is:
